Speech Therapist for (Early Childhood)

Job Summary

FSG is seeking a certified and credentialed Speech Therapist this is able to work with children between
the ages of 3-5 in Early Childhood settings including Head Start and Child Cares. The therapist works
with specific children directly in the classroom and evaluates speech and language disabilities with the
use of professional assessments. The goal is to develop long term attainable outcomes for the child that
focuses on improving their language, cognitive and communication skills. Intervention is one hour each
for each child/student and is continuous until sufficient progress is made.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Assess and study children’s language delays and identify the types of communication challenges

  • Develop attainable goals for children to improve their language, cognitive and communication skills

  • Must continually communicate and provide feedback to the program on the child’s speech progress

  • Must effectively use speech therapy techniques and exercises and cater the program to the specific child.

  • Must be able to identify what triggers language and communication delays and determine attainable milestones

  • Provide a thorough and written case management narrative on the child’s progress weekly

 

Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (additional languages are a plus) but not a requirement

  • Master’s degree in speech language pathology and communication disorders

  • NYS License to practice

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written

  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational and follow up skills

  • Overall positive demeanor and warm attitude with ability to effectively engage children

  • 2-5 years experiences
