Music Therapist

Job Summary

FSG is seeking a Licensed Music Therapist to lead therapy programming for our partnering agencies in Manhattan, Bronx and Brooklyn. The types of groups the therapist will work with will include school age children in our partnering schools and seniors with our partnering senior centers. We aim to provide all of our participants a place where they are able to fully express
themselves through creative arts, creativity and individuality as we support everyone through their journey. The candidate must be able to develop activities, stimulate discussion, and lead 60 minute group sessions. They will need to create a warm and supportive environment that fosters empowerment and encourages participation and engagement. Through the use of various
activities the therapist must be able to execute quality therapeutic programming to improve the participant’s social, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, educational and physical well-being.

Food Services Group is the largest and leading Health, Wellness, Nutritional and Educational management group for all nonprofit social service agencies in the Tri State. FSG’s reach extends to over 300 different programs and all the work we do is revolved around improving health and quality of life through the integration of all the services and programs we offer.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Music Therapy and Licensed to practice.

  • Must enjoy working with the community.

  • Experience in teaching, as well as excellent communication and organizational abilities

  • Two years related experience required in delivering group therapy sessions.

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish, Mandarin or Cantonese preferred but not required.

 

Health Education & Professional Responsibilities

  • Serves as a health educator to children, families, adults, seniors and staff.

  • Acts as a resource person on health issues.

  • Attend and participate in staff meetings when requested.

  • Complies with medical, nursing, and educational ethics.

  • Case management, health intervention and interdisciplinary collaborating skills.

  • Flexible

  • Part Time

  • 1 Hour Group Sessions
